GBRacing further Improves Rider Safety for 2015

Over the last two seasons GBRacing has been developing and testing further Safety features for Riders, engineering safety improvements to their FIM Approved Crank Case Protection.
 
Graham Banks MD of GBRacing explains: “Our Passion has always been for rider safety, on and off the track, continually looking for areas that we can improve on.
 
We do our utmost to primarily prevent Oil Spills World-Wide, and have witnessed first-hand our UK manufactured engine protection dramatically reduces this issue since 2006.
 
Our greatest challenge over the years has been to recommend and encourage teams, and track day public, to change our products after each and every crash, to ensure the best rider safety possible.
Understandably because of our products inherent high performance and durability, this good practice has not always been possible. Some deem that it is not always necessary to change, a practice that we do not wish to encourage and would like to change.
 
Our products are sacrificial products that are designed to be extremely forgiving; they wear appropriately in multiple areas that are specifically designed for greater wear.

This durability and performance however has led to many wear areas, and in some cases the same areas, appearing when teams do not replace our products, after a number of crashes.
Eventually the designed wear areas are so thin, that a final crash may not protect the engine as intended. This practice is not only false economy, but potentially reduces rider safety.
 
Starting with many Moto2 GP teams, we have now developed patent applied products that show wear indicators in the form of round holes that appear when crucial areas of material have been worn down. This allows Scrutineers and team technicians to evaluate our products visually, and base their decisions on what they see easily, should a team not automatically replace the product as recommended.
 
This wear indicator design should not however encourage teams to use our products right down to the wear indicators, as we still recommend replacing damaged products after each and every crash.
 
We are extremely pleased to now officially release, that all our new products designed since 2014 include these wear indicators, further reducing the potential for oil spills and enhancing rider safety.”
 
We will be systematically redesigning older designs to add these benefits on the most popular sports bikes being raced today.
