The Board of Directors met at the Lille Grand Palais in Lille (France) on 8 and 9 February, ahead of the FIM Commissions Conference, held during the weekend.

On this occasion, the Board addressed many topics, in particular the following:

Situation in Ukraine: The Board of Directors reiterated its sympathy and solidarity with all those suffering, as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. After having carefully considered the situation including the latest statements of the IOC, the Board once again confirmed the decisions taken during its extraordinary meeting on 5 March 2022. The FIM will continue to monitor the evolution of the situation, taking into account the specificity of motorcycle sport.

Sport: All disciplines were discussed with a focus on the promotion of the FIM Supercross World Championship, the FIM Sidecar World Championship as well as the FIM EBK World Cup/Championship in the upcoming years. The Hard Enduro Junior World Cup will become a World Championship as of 2024. In the framework of the reform of Trial, the Board addressed the “dynamic rule” and the introduction of a specific electronic device to monitor stops, backwards motions and other faults committed by the riders. The Board reinforced the efforts deployed by the FIM towards sound reduction by approving sound limits for most of the off-road disciplines as of 2024. An analysis of the existing types of FIM licences for riders was performed for harmonisation and simplification purposes.

Finance: The 2022 closing and 2023 forecasts, both reflecting the sound financial situation of the FIM, were presented to the Board.

New FIM brand identity: Additional decisions were made in relation to the project presented by the communication agency entrusted with the creation of the new FIM brand identity, including the new FIM logo.

Communication: The provisional schedule of the FIM Hospitality for 2023 was shared with the Board. A tender will soon be launched for a new FIM Hospitality to be inaugurated in 2024, year of the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the FIM. A book will also be edited to mark this milestone. The concept of a virtual press room offering access to certified content was addressed.

Legacy project: A status report was presented to the Board on the construction works of the new FIM HQ, started on 23 November 2022. The current FIM HQ will be transformed into a Motorcycle Sports Museum to preserve the social, cultural and historical legacy of the FIM and motorcycling.
