Underlining their ongoing commitment to rider safety, the FIM International Technical Commission (CTI), Track Racing Commission (CCP) and Circuit Racing Commission (CCR) have launched the FIM Racing Homologation Programme for barriers (FRHPba).
In the past approved barriers (CCP) and homologated Barriers (CCR) have been expected to meet internationally recognised standards for use in FIM competitions. However, under FRHPba guidelines which call for state of the art testing methods, all barriers will require an FIM homologation certificate and labelling that takes into account a more complete and demanding evaluation of performance to meet a stringent criterion.
FIM Homologated barriers (FRHPba) will be required from 2029, for the FIM World Championships and Prize events listed in the FIM Standard for Track Racing circuit. However, the ADMAR Barrier for Speedway (ABS) Type A+ has already been homologated and is ready for use on all FIM tracks.
The homologation will allow the FIM to ensure more complete, high-end protection for its riders with emphasis placed on optimal protection, providing a minimised risk of slipping under the barrier or rebounding.
