The Board of Directors met for the fourth time of the year on 4 December 2024, ahead of the General Assembly and FIM Awards ceremony to be held on 6 & 7 December 2024 in Palma – Mallorca.
On this occasion, the Board addressed many topics, in particular the following:
Sport: All disciplines were discussed with a focus on the success of the first-ever Intercontinental Games, the Supercross World Championship, the FIM SpeedwayGP World Championship, the E-Xplorer World Cup promoter, the extension of the Hard Enduro World Championship promotion contract as well as the Trial discipline. New and revised classes/categories in FIM World Championships and FIM Prizes were agreed on. In addition, the Board reiterated its continued support for the Community of Valencia following the recent floods and confirmed its full support, financial and otherwise, in relation to the FIM Grand Prix World Championship, FIM JuniorGP World Championship, FIM MiniGP World Series Final relocated events.
Finance: The 2024 year-end forecast was shared. The construction costs of the new FIM Headquarters, inaugurated on 10 October 2024, are in line with the budget approved by the General Assembly. An overview of the project subsidies granted to FMNs over the last 8 years was shown.
Racing Motorcycle Museum: Transformation works are in progress and the content of the future museum is currently being defined. The grand opening of the museum, to be managed by the International Foundation for Motorcycling (IFM), will take place with the World Champions in the framework of the 2025 FIM Awards on 6 December 2025.
Commissions: The following changes were made to the composition of the FIM Commissions:
- International Technical Commission (CTI) - New Member, Mr Gianluca AQUILIA (FMI), subject to successfully obtain the relevant licence
- International Medical Commission (CMI) - New Member, Ms Anna Maria COMASÒLIVES ARUMI (RFME)
- International Technical Commission (CTI) - New Member, Ms Nicole Stephanie SMITH (MCUI), subject to successfully obtain the relevant licence
- Track Racing Commission (CCP) - New Member, Mr Neil VATCHER (ACU)
The Board acknowledged the withdrawal of CCP Member, Mr Rob PAINTER (ACU).
Ethical Chamber: The Board appointed the following Ethical Chamber Members:
- Ms Clotilde GALY (FRA) for a mandate 2025-2028
- Ms Iris GONZÁLEZ (MEX) for a mandate 2025-2028
- Mr George AVVAKOUMIDES (RSA) for a mandate 2024-2027
Liaison with National Federations/Continental Unions: An update on the FMN/CONU liaison initiatives and activities was shared. The launch of #FIMunites campaign aiming to provide visibility to FMNs/CONUs was addressed. A briefing on the FMN/CONU Secretaries General meeting hosted by the Deutscher Motor Sport Bund e. V. (DMSB) in Frankfurt (Germany) on 1-2 October 2024 was presented to the Board. A qualitative analysis of the FMNs’ activities to be launched and aiming at providing FMNs with even more dedicated support and assistance. The success of the campaign for safeguarding children in motorcycle sport was stressed.
Amendments to the Codes: The Board approved amendments to the Sporting Code as well as new and revised licence fees that will be submitted to the 2024 General Assembly for consideration. Several amendments to the Medical and Anti-Doping Codes were also validated by the Board. In addition, a fully revised edition of the Disciplinary Code was endorsed.
FIM Academy: A progress report on the FIM Academy activities such as seminars, online modules development, mentoring programmes, academies and education programmes were addressed.
Marketing & Digital: Key data on the graphic design initiative, 2024 6DAYS edition, new partnerships, FIM-moto.tv, 2024 FIM Awards ceremony and digital communication were presented to the Board.
International Foundation of Motorcycling (IFM): The agenda of the next meeting of the IFM, to take place in Palma – Mallorca on 7 December 2024, was presented and included the approval of the 2025 budget, discussions on the management of the Racing Motorcycles Museum as well as the appointments of the Members of the Contributor’s Advisory Council for 2025.
The CONU Presidents, Board Committees, Working Groups and Departments of the Administration presented their progress reports on their respective projects
