Who will take the title?

The 2015 FIM Long Track World Championship reaches its conclusion this week in the heart of French track racing country, on the grass of the Parc Municipal in Morizes.

16 of the world’s top Long Track racers will be there to decide the destination of this year’s title and it promises to be a very competitive evening of racing. After 3 rounds the leading point scorers are Erik Riss with 53, Jannick de Jong 51, Theo Pijper 47, Joonas Kylmakorpi 46, Dmitri Berge 41, Josef Franc 37 and Richard Hall 36 and with multiple world champion Joonas Kylmakorpi having withdrawn through injury the field is opened for last year’s youngest ever long track champion Riss to retain his title.

However he holds only a slender one point lead over Dutchman Jannick de Jong the European Champion, with fellow Dutchman and local track specialist Théo Pijper six points adrift so the race for a podium place will not be for the faint hearted and a slip from any of these will give the following pack an opportunity to steal a bronze medal at least. Richard Hall, winner here last year has at last struck top form again on the grass and will not be intimidated by the reputations of his rivals. Other potential ‘spoilers’ are the local Tresarrieu brothers Mathieu and Stéphane who have had mixed success this year but will be expected to perform well on the home soil and young German Kai Huckenbeck, winner of the Challenge Round earlier this season, who will be looking to put in an impressive performance as a confidence booster for his full season in 2016.

The draw for the meeting takes place at 13.30 on Saturday before the afternoon’s practice. Racing starts at 20.45 and will include the first round of the FIM Flat Track Cup. Jury President is Mick Bates and referee Dan Holt, both from Great Britain.
