U21 Speedway showdown in Pardubice

FOGO FIM SPEEDWAY UNDER 21 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
FINAL 3 – PARDUBICE, CZECH REPUBLIC 4TH OCTOBER 2019
The cream of Speedway’s young talent meets in the Czech Republic on Friday for the last round of this year’s Fogo FIM Speedway Under 21 World Championship. With only one point separating the top two riders and three more close behind the battle for the medals is likely to be fierce.

Leading scores after Final 2:
1. Dominik Kubera (Poland) 36 points
2. Maksym Drabik (Poland) 35
3. Bartosz Smektala (Poland) 28
4. Gleb Chugunov (Russia) 26
5. Robert Lambert (Great Britain) 21
6. Jan Kvech (Czech Republic) 20
7. Wiktor Lampart (Poland) 20
8. Jonas Jeppesen (Denmark) 15

Three Poles dominate the top of the Intermediate Classification after the first two rounds. Dominik Kubera holds a slender lead after winning the Final 2 in Gustrow but former champion Maksym Drabik will be ready to take advantage of any slip and Bartosz Smektala will be aiming to repeat his sensational performance in the final last year which landed him the title for the first time. Kubera however is at the top of his game having top scored for the Polish team which won the European Under 21 Team Championship last weekend.

Russia’s Gleb Chugunov, winner of the first round and Robert Lambert of Great Britain are following closely behind the leaders and a good result from either could see them steal the bronze medal. Chugunov in particular will be inspired by his recent form in helping Swedish club Eskilstuna retain their Elitserien title. Lambert will look for a good meeting before he heads off for the final FIM Speedway Grand Prix of the season in Torun on Saturday.

Local interest will centre on Jan Kvech and Wild Card Petr Chlupáč and their knowledge of the track will be a useful asset.

The meeting will be under the control of Referee Guiseppe Grandi from Italy with FIM Jury President Mick Bates from Great Britain. Racing in Pardubice will start at 19.05 on Friday ahead of the annual Golden Helmet event which takes place on Sunday.
