This year’s Trial GP at the famous Twin Ring circuit, Motegi marks the fifteenth consecutive year that the purpose built Honda facility has hosted a round of the FIM Trial World Championship since the first event back in 2000. This special occasion and achievement was officially recognised when FIM CTR Director Thierry Michaud presented commemorative plaques to representatives from the Motorcycling Federation of Japan and Twin Ring during a dinner held at the hotel within the complex last night.
For the last decade and a half the Japanese Trial GP at Motegi has very much set the standard for other organisers to strive to. The extensive and fantastic permanent facilities provide an outstanding base for the event, which also hosts a round of the FIM MotoGP series each year. Methodical planning and exceptional attention to detail means that the riders and teams have enjoyed consistent and high standards ever since the championship first visited these shores fifteen years ago.
The Japanese Trial GP remains an important stop on the tour, and one that has consistently allowed the series to venture away from its normal European path and make the championship truly worthy of its World status.
