Tribute to Grzegorz Knapp


Experienced Polish Speedway and Ice Speedway rider Grzegorz Knapp passed away yesterday following an accident whilst competing in the third round of the Dutch League held in Belgium. Grzegorz was riding for Lelystad Windmills. He was 35 years old, and had been riding in Track Racing for 17 years. 

Knapp, who was Team U-21 Polish Speedway Champion in 1997, had recently shown good form in the FIM Ice Speedway Gladiators World Championship, moving up from 15th place in 2010, 14th in 2011 and 11th in 2012 and 2013 to 10th in 2014. He also had a successful career riding in the Polish League riding for Lublin, Gdansk, Rawicz and Grundzladz.

The FIM and the whole of the Speedway community extend its condolences to his family and friends.
