Trial GP - A French Revolution?

The French Trial GP this weekend will have much home interest, with France having good representation in each of the three classes. After a slightly below par performance at the opening round of the series, Loris Gubian – Gas Gas will certainly be looking to find his form in front of a home crowd. The twenty-two year old ex FIM Junior Trial World champion is currently lying tenth in the initial standings, however will be looking for a better performance this time out.
 
In the highly competitive Junior category, Benoit Dagnicourt – Beta and Tanguy Mottin – Montesa are flying the French flag. Sitting fifth and seventh in the standings respectively, the two countrymen are sure to push hard to close the gap on series leader Alfredo Gomez – Montesa, at their home event.
 
Although it may be the Spanish who are the dominant force in the World Pro and Junior classes, the French have a strong foot hold over the Youth category. With five out of the top ten riders sporting the nation’s blue, white and red stripes, the country’s main hopes lie on the shoulders of Cedric Tempier – Sherco. Currently in second place after the first round of the series, the eighteen-year old will be hoping to use the home support to challenge class leader Jack Sheppard – Beta over the two days of competition.
