The FIM is pleased to be share details of the recent and successful meeting between the President of the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOl), Andrzej Kraśnicki and Jorge Viegas, President of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), regarding the inclusion of Trial-E as a demonstration sport in the programme for the 3rd European Games Kraków-Małopolska 2023.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary General of the PKOl - Adam Krzesiński, the Treasurer of the PKOl and the Honorary President of the Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (PZM) - Andrzej Witkowski, and the President of the Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation - Michał Sikora. This followed on from last year when Jorge Viegas, FIM, presented to the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC) a proposal to include Trial-E as a demonstration sport in the programme for the 3rd European Games.
During the meeting, the President of the PKOl confirmed that fans will be able to watch competitors competing in this sport.
The FIM will provide all the financing for this project and the Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (a member of the Polish Olympic Committee and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) will manage its organisation.
Trial-E is recognised as an incredibly difficult and spectacular motorcycle sport requiring years of training and extraordinary control. Last year, the FIM appealed to the IOC to add Trial-E to the list of sports included in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and a decision will be taken after next year's games in Tokyo. If the initiative by the FIM succeeds, Trial-E will be the first officially recognised Olympic motorsport.
The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme already has its own Trial-E Championship in the FIM Trial World Championship, which was held for the first time in 2017.
