September 2005, same place (Ernée), same event (Motocross of Nations).
On Saturday at the same table in the paddock, area of the Suzuki Team, we met with three Belgian former Motocross riders: the team boss Sylvain Geboers (left), elder brother of Eric, who started to race in the late 60s, together with Joel Robert in the 250cc class, both with CZ motorcycles and then with Suzuki. Joel Robert (middle), six world titles in the 250cc (one in 1964 and five consecutive from 1968 to 1872), was manager of the Belgian team at that time, and so was Roger de Coster (right), five world titles in the 500cc in the 500cc class (72-73, 75 to 77), manager of the North-American team since 1981. USA won the event ten years ago, with Ricky Carmichael, Ivan Tedesco and Kevin Windham. Now things are a little bit different. Watch it on Sunday!
