Through a river – of mud
During the 20s the International Six Days Trial underwent their first period of development, and female riders and passengers were part of it since the beginning. The most successful of these women were the members of one of the British teams which was composed of Marjorie Cottle, Louise McLean and Edyth Foley, who brilliantly won the Silver Vase of the 1927 ISDT held in Ambleside.
This picture shows Miss Marjorie Cottle during the 1928 ISDT, «one of the English «A» team composed of three women, going through a bad patch on the 165 miles course, which comprised the first days run in the six days’ international reliability trial which started from Harrogate yesterday (Mon).» (original legend)
