Thirty Years Riding Green and renewal of partnership take centre stage on day four of FIM Sustainability Week

Thirty Years `Riding Green’ and renewal of partnership take centre stage on day four of FIM Sustainability Week.

With the annual FIM Sustainability Week now past the halfway stage, the activities today (8 June) will focus on the updated second edition of ‘Riding Green’ and the FIM’s ongoing relationship with ATPI Halo to offset carbon emissions.

First published to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the FIM’s ground-breaking initiative to reconcile motorcycle sport and the environment, ‘Twenty-Five Years Riding Green’ details the history of the FIM’s Ride Green Programme.

For 2023 it has been comprehensively updated. Entitled ‘Thirty Years Riding Green’, this second edition brings the story all the way up to the present day and includes testimonials from people who have supported the programme from the very beginning along with, among others, the thoughts of more recent ambassadors and new environmental stewards.

Now an integral part of the FIM’s Ride Green Programme, ATPI Halo is a carbon dioxide (CO2) measurement, reduction and offset service designed by travel management specialists which the FIM works closely alongside as its carbon-neutral partner for the General Assembly and FIM Awards.

Highlighting the importance the FIM places on environmental sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with motorcycle sport, this partnership ensures that all unavoidable emissions of the General Assembly and FIM Awards are offset.

Pippa Ganderton, Director ATPI Halo – Sustainable Travel & Events Solutions confirmed: “We are truly proud to be selected as the environmental sustainability partner to FIM for the third year running. Our ongoing ATPI commitment to protect the environment, and our company values, go hand-in-hand with those of the FIM. We are excited that ATPI Halo will be collaborating with the FIM Sustainability team and are able to support this fantastic federation once again.”

Kattia Juárez, Director of the FIM International Sustainability Commission, stated: “The first time we launched the book it was a big success, especially among the sports community that felt inspired by our twenty-five years working in the field of sustainability. We have been called trailblazers of sustainability in sport and this makes us proud, but we feel responsible for innovating and continuing our work on a good path. In the next five years, we have had a big step forward, especially in the organisation of events based on the dimensions of sustainability of our sport and the contribution to more sustainable transportation.”
