Third pole for T. Chareyre

Under sunny skies and with temperatures nudging the mid-thirties the fifth Grand Prix of the FIM Supermoto World Championship arrived in Spain in the hope of delivering more fantastic action from the best supermoto riders in the world. Unfortunately for the S1 World Championship leader Mauno Hermunen though, the Finn would not be present after a motocross practice crash left him with a broken lumber vertebrae, meaning the former world champion would be out for the remainder of the season. With no Mauno HERMUNEN, the Free Practice sessions saw two different riders top the timing sheets in the form of Husqvarna Lukas HOLLBACHER in Free Practice 1 and Husqvarna 833 Pavel KEJMAR in Free Practice 2. Both times though they were followed home by TM Racing Thomas CHAREYRE.

In Time Practice the top six riders heading into the Superchrono session were Pavel KEJMAR, Thomas CHAREYRE, Lukas HOLLBACHER, Honda L30 Ivan LAZZARINI, Honda Freccia Teo MONTICELLI and Honda Assomotor Christian RAVAGLIA, and at the end of the ten minute session it was Chareyre who took his TM Factory machine to pole position for the third time this season. If the Frenchman wins race one he will take over the World Championship lead. Joining Chareyre on the front row will be Lukas HOLLBACHER and Pave KEJMAR while Lazzarini, Monticelli and Ravaglia round out row two.
