The 6th FIM Supermoto World Championship round to be held in Chachagüi, Colombia, on 4 and 6 August 2017 will be yet another landmark in the history of the FIM’s efforts to promote sustainable sports events. With KiSS Chachagüi, the KiSS Programme is travelling to South America for the very first time.
The Colombian Federation is very proud to organise KISS Programme and follow the example of other world class events by staging the first FIM World Championship round in South America organised under the banner of the FIM Ride Green Programme according to the highest environmental standards.
- Engagement with fans to promote environmental culture inside the sports event
- Technical verifications to control sound levels in order to ensure that the motorcycles produce acceptable sound levels with the aim of protecting the environment, the riders, the fans and the officials.
- Compulsory use of environmental mats at all times during the servicing of motorcycles
- Use of unleaded fuels
- Promotion of the campaign “I do care for the environment” organised by FIM Latin America.
The KISS programme was launched in 2013 at the legendary Mugello Circuit with the aim of minimising the environmental impact caused by the event and encouraging the participation of the fans. One of the fundamental aims of the programme is to include the normal environmental standards applicable to all our events and to incorporate other actions for the benefit of the environment and to reduce the footprint of the event, thereby contributing to sustainable sport and the attainment of all objectives associated with sustainable events.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming SuperMoto round in Chachagüi, the President of the Colombian Federation Andrés Moreno said: “For our federation it is very important to be part of this sustainable programme, not only because we want to comply with the environmental regulations but also because we want to give another image to motorcycling sport. A sport that might be more than entertainment can aid the community and engage our fans in sustainability actions, promote environmental behaviour and give the community a good legacy in environmental education terms. An event like this must be an example for the sporting community.”
CID Director Kattia Juárez welcomed this initiative: “This year the KiSS programme is celebrating its 5th anniversary and we are very proud of the achievements made. Our programme has demonstrated that our sporting events have the capability of going beyond pure entertainment. As well as respecting the FIM Environmental Code, this event can be a good vehicle for educating the fans, the community and improving the image of sport, and especially our sport. I am proud to organise this event in South America because I know that this continent is putting a lot of effort into be aligned with the circular economy and sustainable development goals and this kind of initiative can help us achieve this.
The Director of the FIM Sustainability Commission (CID), Kattia Juárez and the President of the Columbian Motorcycling Federation (CFM), Andrés Moreno recently agreed to implement this important project that will add another dimension to the world class event held two years ago in Pasto, Colombia.
