Toni Bou – Repsol Honda continues to rewrite the record books and further cemented his place in history as the Trial rider with the most FIM World titles when he sealed the 2015 FIM X-Trial World Championship at the penultimate round in Austria late last night. His ninth consecutive title in this series brings his tally to seventeen individual FIM Championships in all.
Speaking immediately after spraying the obligatory celebration champagne during the podium ceremony a delighted King Toni IX had this to say. “My feeling is incredible. Today my dream was to win this event as after losing in Pau I arrived here in Austria much more confident following my victory in Barcelona last weekend. With Jeroni (Fajardo) separating me and Adam (Raga) on the podium it has been the perfect day and has given me the points advantage I needed to take the title and to be World Champion once again.”
The newly crowned King continued by saying. “For sure we are going to celebrate this moment, but also I will also prepare in the correct way for the last round in Oviedo next week, as again it is a World Championship event and one that I want to win so that I can finish the season in the right way. Also as I know for all this season Adam (Raga) is very strong, so I will need to be riding well if I am to take the final victory of the series. Let’s see what will happen.”
