In just two days time the great and the good associated with all forms of motorcycle sport will arrive in Estoril, Portugal for the second edition of the FIM Gala that will bring the current season to a close in glittering style. Some five hundred plus guests will pack into the Estoril Casino to enjoy a very special and unique evening of entertainment hosted by Suzi Perry.
More than thirty of the 2011 FIM World Champions are due to be present for a ninety-minute ceremony that will recognise and applaud their most recent achievements. The latest array of motorcycle heroes will receive their respective awards from stars of the past, with two-wheel legends such as Angel Nieto, Carl Fogarty, Eric Geboers, Yjro Vesterinen, Giovanni Sala, Tony Rickardsson and Iris Kramer on hand to do the honours.
For those who will not actually be present in Estoril, they will be able to follow the proceedings live on Motors TV and SPORTS TV Portugal or via FIM-TV.COM.
In addition to championship prizes, awards for the CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS will also be announced and presented during the ceremony to the three following categories, which were voted for by the fans, media, riders, teams and industry over the previous weeks.
The Rookie of the Year 2011 / The Woman of the Year 2011 / The Personality of the Year 2011.
Tomorrow will see two days of activities begin with 2011 FIM General Assembly at the Estoril Congress Centre. Sunday's packed programme will start with the first ever FIM Symposium. FIM President Vito Ippolito will open the FIM Symposium that will include a varied array of keynote speakers from the motorcycle industry, the media, blue chip global companies including Tag Heuer and major sports such as football and tennis.
Later on Sunday a press conference for all the FIM World Champions and Legends who are due to be present will take place ahead of the FIM Gala which will begin with the red carpet arrival of all the stars from 18.30hrs (local time) onwards.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on Motors TV & SPORTS TV Portugal to a global audience. And will also be available to view live on FIM-TV.COM.from 21.00hrs (local time).
