The first day of glorious action at the Japanese Trial Grand Prix declared that the 2013 FIM Trial World Championship is officially open for business. Ahead of the weekend’s competition the riders gathered for the now traditional ‘family’ photo shoot with all three main classes – World Pro, Junior and Youth being well represented. A total of fifty-six riders across all classes representing ten nations started day one in Japan. With this being the first time that the series has opened in Asia, the more regular protagonists were joined by a healthy and welcomed contingent of local riders who made their presence felt and featured strongly in the day one results. No less than three home riders were classified in the top ten of the World Pro class. When the action closes at the Twin Ring circuit, Motegi later today the teams will be busy repacking their flight cases as their attention then shifts to the second stop on the tour in the USA next month. The TTC venue in Sequatchie, Tennessee which has previously hosted the FIM Trial World Championship in both 2006 and 2008 has exceptional terrain on hand that would appear ideally suited to the new no-stop era.
