The Board of Directors, which was convened at the FIM Headquarters in Mies (Switzerland) on 6 May 2026, addressed many topics, in particular the following:
Sport: All disciplines were reviewed with a focus on the promotion contracts for the FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup, the FIM Enduro World Championship, the FIM X-Trial World Championship, the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship, the FIM QuadCross World Championship as well as the FIM SidecarCross World Championship. Discussions related to the next edition of the FIM Intercontinental Games (ICG), which beside circuit racing will count with the introduction of motocross discipline, were held. Due to the current geopolitical uncertainties related to the situation across Middle Eastern countries, the Board decided, in consultation with the Kuwait National Federation (KIAC), to relocate the ICG in Goiânia (Brazil) from 11 to 13 December 2026. The TrialGP Working Group presented its report to the Board which focused principally on the sporting changes planned for 2026 and 2027. Upon recommendation from the Trial Commission, the Board agreed to rename the FIM Trial3 World Championship to FIM Trial3 Junior World Championship. Discussions were held on the technical changes for the 2027 MotoGP and FIM Superbike World Championship. A report on the implementation of the FIM helmets homologated standards FRHPhe-02, mandatory across all FIM World Championships & Prizes as of 2026, was provided. The Board was informed of the introduction of the new FIM TV Control system introduced in Motocross (MXGP and MX2) to support the Race Direction in enforcing regulations, improving decision-making, and enhancing rider and event safety. A progress report on the Off-Road Sound Reduction Campaign was shared, highlighting the ongoing five-year initiative which provides 250 sound meters to FMNs in support of their sound level reduction efforts. The Board was informed of new technologies and tools to continuously improve technical control protocols.
Finance: The Board agreed on the 2025 audited financial statements that will be submitted to the General Assembly for approval. In addition, the revised 2026 forecast was presented.
Liaison with FMNs/CONUs: A revision of the FMN/CONU liaison initiatives and activities was given.
Marketing and Digital: An update on the FIM-moto.tv broadcasting platform, the social media, the 6DAYS® FIM Enduro of Nations marking its 100th edition in 2026, the visual identity as well as the marketing campaigns for the Flat Track World Championship and for the ICG was delivered.
Racing Motorcycle Museum (RMM): A progress report on the RMM operations since its opening mid-February 2026, including the visitors number, the promotional actions and the Paddock Café activities was shared with the Board.
Certification for motorcycle sport coaches: The Board endorsed the development of a certification programme for motorcycle sport coaches aiming at establishing globally recognised standards.
International Foundation for Motorcycling (IFM): A brief presentation outlined the main items on the agenda of the Foundation Board meeting scheduled on 7 May at the FIM HQ in Mies (Switzerland), specifically the approval of the 2025 audited financial statements, the fundraising efforts and initiatives to be supported throughout 2026.
General Assemblies and FIM Awards: Due to the postponement of the FIM Grand Prix World Championship event in Lusail (Qatar) to November 2026, necessitating a change of date and venue for the 2026 General Assembly and FIM Awards, the Board confirmed that both events will take place on 4 & 5 December 2026 in Málaga (Spain).
Commissions Conference: A summary of the feedback received from participants in the 2026 Commissions Conference, as well as in seminars and trainings – the overall tone of which was positive – was provided to the Board. The 2027 Commissions Conference will take place on 13 & 14 February 2027 in Divonne-les-Bains (France) and Mies (Switzerland).
Amendments to Codes and Regulations: The Board approved amendments to the Financial Regulations and to the Medical Code.
Commissions: The following changes were made to the composition of the Commissions:
CCR – New Member, Mr Eitan BUTBUL (IMSF)
CTR – New Expert, Ms Donna FOX, FIM Technical Adviser for the Sections (CTRS) for the FIM Women’s Trial World Championship and FIM Women’s Trial des Nations
The Board further ratified the withdrawals of CMI Member, Dr Harald HERTZ (AMF) and CTL Member Mr Sujith Kumar BANGALORE SHANKARAPPA (FMSCI).
The CONU Presidents, Board Committees, Working Groups and Departments of the Administration presented their progress reports on their respective projects.
