Tanvald revisited

This coming weekend sees the small town of Tanvald, Czech Republic host the second round of the 2011 FIM Women’s Trial World Championship. As thirty riders from eight different countries descend upon the traditional dwelling situated in the north of the country, a number of the female competitors will familiarise themselves with the surroundings, having previously ridden at this venue. Tanvald continues to enjoy a rich association with the discipline of Trial having held a number of high profile Women’s events in past years, the most recent of which was the final round of the 2010 UEM Women’s European Trial Championship. On that occasion Spaniard Laia Sanz – Repsol Montesa recorded a commanding victory ahead of Joanne Coles – Gas Gas and Rebekah Cook – Sherco, although it remains to be seen whether she can produce a repeat performance this time around. Currently third in the general standings, Cook will also look to use her knowledge of the local terrain in order to promote herself within the World championship ranks. Having finished runner-up to Laia during the past three seasons, Cook will be eager to win her first GP and challenge for the title. The Sherco teamster perhaps holds an advantage over second placed compatriot Emma Bristow – Ossa, who has not competed here since 2008 when she recorded eighth.
