Suzuki pair demand more

Suzuki riders Chris Vermeulen and Loris Capirossi have warned the team needs to find more speed from the engine of the new GSV-R if they are to battle at the sharp end of the FIM MotoGP World Championship this season.

The Suzuki pair were impressive in testing at the Losail circuit in Qatar earlier this week, Australian Vermeulen completing the test in fourth position while Italian veteran Capirossi was sixth.

Both riders admitted they were encouraged with the performance but felt there was potential to find yet more pace.

"Engine speed is still one thing to work on," said Vermeulen.

"We're still a little slow on the straights, which makes it difficult to race."

Capirossi echoed his team-mate's view, saying: "I'm really satisfied because the bike is overall much better compared to last year's.

"The engine is what we need to work on; we're struggling on the top speed and this is the most problematic thing for us."
