Of the many highlights of the 2016 FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) few have been more impressive than the performances of Josep Garcia – Husqvarna. Starting the event hoping to secure a podium result as a member of the Spanish Junior World Trophy squad, when the team lost one of its riders on day three Josep’s goals changed.
Focused on his individual Enduro 1 class performance he has outperformed even his own high expectations. The fastest Enduro 1 class rider on day one, Garcia went one better on day two when he topped not only the E1 category but also the event outright. Two more winning E1 results on days three and four were followed by another overall win on day five – seriously impressive performances for a rider in the early stages of his international career.
“It’s been a fantastic week for me,” explained Josep as he exited the parc ferme at the end of day five. “Of course I wanted to do well at my home ISDE, but I never expected to do this well. I’ve had an almost perfect week, it’s been incredible.”
With the 91st running of the ISDE set to be the last official Enduro outing of five-time World Champion Ivan Cervantes, the emergence of the host nation’s newest star ensures Spain has a very positive future.
