Julian Simon coped best with a wet Le Mans race track to win the FIM 125cc World Championship race at the French circuit.
The Bancaja Aspar Aprilia rider, who started the race in seventh on the grid, took the win by 27 seconds as he rode a calculated race which saw many other riders crash, some of them remounting to finish the race.
Second place went to 15-year-old German Jonas Folger (Ongetta Aprilia) for his first podium in only his 10th race after starting from 16th position.
Simon's team-mates Sergio Gadea and Bradley Smith finished third and fourth respectively.
Folger's team-mates Takaaki Nakagami and Andrea Iannone finished fifth and seventh respectively with Dominique Aegerter (Ajo Interwetten Derbi) finishing between them in sixth.
