Simon takes 125cc honours

Julian Simon (Bancaja Aspar) won a dramatic FIM 125cc World Championship race at Misano after Andrea Iannone (Ongetta Team ISPA) and Pol Espargaro (Derbi Racing Team) crashed on the final corner while battling for the lead.

Simon and Iannone had been leading the race before they were caught by Espargaro in the closing stages only for the drama to unfold in the final turn.

The crash handed second place to Nico Terol (Jack & Jones Team) and Simon's team-mate Bradley Smith was third despite only being in ninth place with 10 laps to go after starting the race in pole position.

Fourth place went to Marc Marquez (Red Bull KTM) and fifth to Sandro Cortese (Ajo Interwetten).

Stefan Bradl (Viessmann Kiefer Racing), Simone Corsi (Fontana Racing), Joan Olive (Derbi Racing Team), Jonas Folger (Ongetta Team ISPA) and Danny Webb (Degraaf Grand Prix) rounded out the top 10 finishers.
