Sidecar Qualifying 2 - Magny Cours (FRA)


Once again the FIM Sidecar World Championship teams took to the track in blazing sunshine for the all important qualifying session that would determine the positions on the grid for tomorrow’s race. Once again it was a busy track for the first few laps until the teams got themselves sorted out to get the fast laps in.

Two teams who have to be happy with their times will be Sebastien Delannoy and Oliver Lavorel, Team Sand Seb72, LCR Suzuki, and Mike Roscher and Sven Polchow, Roscher Sidecar, LCR BMW. Both teams, their passengers this is their first time at this level of racing, Oliver Lavorel has only competed in Hill Climes before and Sven Polchow has only done four races before now, Team Sand Seb72 qualify in seventh spot and Roscher Sidecar team in eleventh.

Starting on pole position for the race will be Pekka Paivarinta and Adolf Hanni Team Suzuki Finland, LCR Suzuki who set a fastest time of 1:45.949, they did not have a trouble free practice though, they ran off track on the very fast first corner, but all was okay they managed to get back on track with no damage. Starting next to them will be Ben and Tom Birchall on their Mitchells of Mansfield, LCR Yamaha only .818 down on Paivarinta.  Third will be a very happy Jorg Steinhausen and Gregory Cluze. Steinhausen Racing Team, LCR BMW with a time of 1:46.880, following them in fourth spot will be Swiss pairing of Markus Schlosser and Thomas Hofer, Team Schlosser, LCR Suzuki, with a time of 1:47.080. In fifth place will be Tim Reeves and Ashley Hawes, The Relocater, LCR Suzuki with a time of 1:47.404.  Kurt Hock and Enrico Becker slot into sixth place just behind Reeves on their Hock Racing, LCR Suzuki with a time of 1:48.023.  In eighth place will be the Delta Racing, LCR Kawasaki of Michael Grabmuller and Helmut Oberherber with a time of 1:51.571.

With reports of possible wet and cold weather for the 10 lap “Sprint” race all teams will be hoping for good weather and if so it will be a close and hectic race. <media 24675>QP2 Results</media> Photos Mark Walters
