Tonight’s Rietumu Bank Latvian FIM Speedway Grand Prix in Riga has been cancelled by the FIM Jury due to safety concerns following adverse weather over the past week. The event will now be staged at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Daugavpils – venue for last year’s Latvian round – at 3pm local time (2pm CET and 1pm UK) tomorrow. The FIM has deemed that a practice session will not be necessary. Tickets for the Riga event will be valid in Daugavpils. If fans are unable to make the event, refunds are available from the agency where you purchased your ticket. BSI Speedway managing director Paul Bellamy said: “We are very sorry to all the fans who had bought tickets and were looking forward to seeing SGP racing in Riga for the first time. But the safety of the riders is of paramount importance. “Our attention now turns to making tomorrow’s Rietumu Bank Latvian SGP in Daugavpils a great afternoon for the fans at trackside and watching around the world.”
