Sensational Second for Penz13 at the Bol d'Or

Team Penz13.com Kraftwerk Herpigny Racing gained a second place in the Stocksport category of the FIM Endurance World Championship at the 76th Bol d'Or in Magny Cours (France). Riders Pedro Vallcaneas (ESP), Grégory Fastre (BEL) and Dylan Buisson (FRA) could as well be happy over the 7th place out of 55 starters in the final overall-ranking as team boss Rico Penzkofer did. Furthermore the squad supplied the best BMW S 1000 RR and has to thank Pirelli for the excellent tires in this event.

76th edition of the Bol d'Or in Magny Cours was a nightmare as far as the weather is concerned. Roughly one hour before the departure of the legendary 24 hour race a shower went down on the Nevers Circuit. It only stopped a couple of Minutes before the start at 3 o'clock p.m. on Saturday. The racing line started to dry out very quickly and so the Team Penz 13 Kraftwerk Herpigny decided to send the first rider, Pedro Vallcaneras, on a double turn as he knew conditions best.

At the beginning the team took over the sixth spot of the Superstock category and made his way to the front - at 1 o'clock on Sunday night the squad of team boss Rico Penzkofer took over the lead for the first time. After that one had a big battle on the BMW S 1000 RR with the Team 3D Endurance Moto. During the night both squads swapped positions permanently - also because of the different pit stop timings.

A little preliminary decision was missed on early Sunday. Penzkofers team took over the lead and pulled a gap of one and a half laps but at 8 o'clock rain returned to the Circuit de Nevers in Magny Cours so rest of the race was supposed to be a gable. It trickled constantly for a while, but racing line was mostly dry. On the other hand no one wanted to risk to much.

Last two hour went a bit hectic again - and brought the only problem for the team. After 22 hours the fairing slacked due to vibrations and had to be fixed in an extra pit stop. Otherwise Penz13 Kraftwerk Herpigny Team experienced no problems at all - which is shown in the total pit time of just 27:57 minutes in 24 hours. Second in Stocksport category is the best result of the Penz-Team in a 24 hour race so far.
