Sachsenring: round 4 of the FIM Sidecar World Championship

With round 4 of the FIM Sidecar World Championship moving to Germany for the first time this year, and what a venue it is, Moto GP at Sachsenring, the 3.700km (2.299ml) circuit in Saxony, is renowned for its party atmosphere, since 2003, spectator attendance has always been over 200,000.

Once again could tyres play a part in the result of this GP.  The last round in Croatia saw a lot of teams struggle with tyres due to the abrasiveness of the track and the immense heat, Sachsenring in the past has be known to cause tyres to blister, and lose teams the race, we will just need to see.

The Swiss pairing of Markus Schlosser and Thomas Hofer will be hoping to improve on their 2 second placings in Croatia, the pair know the track well having raced the German IDM Championship in the past, as too has Jorg Steinhausen with French passenger Gregory Cluze, they will be looking for a good result as their BMW powered machine seems to be going really well having won in Hungary and a third in Croatia.  Two teams who will be looking to stop the above mentioned will be Tim Reeves and Ashley Hawes who had 2 wins in Croatia  and took the lead in the World Championship points table, the other is Ben and Tom Birchall, who know this circuit well, they took a great win here last year.  Pekka Paivarinta and Adolf Hanni will be looking to get back on top of the Championship table too, they are only 8 points behind Reeves and Hawes.
