Press conference presents 2026 TrialGP of Italy

The TrialGP of Italy, round three of the 2026 Hertz FIM Trial World Championship, was officially presented with a press conference on 24 April in the hilltop town of Camerino where the event — scheduled to run from 19-21 June — will be based.

Held in the historic Town Hall, in attendance were the Mayor of Camerino, Roberto Lucarelli; the President of the FMI, Giovanni Copioli; the President of the CONI Marche Regional Committee, Fabio Luna; FIM PR and Promotion Manager Cristina Siani; the President of the FMI Marche Regional Committee, Luca Bartoccetti; the President of Moto Club Camerino, Stefano Ronconi and Clerk of the Course, Danilo Irti.

Situated in the province of Macerata, scene of the 2024 FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy, Camerino’s ties to the FIM Trial World Championship can be traced back to 1992 when the late Diego Bosis claimed a hugely popular home victory. Now, thanks to close cooperation between the Federations, the Moto Club Camerino and institutional stakeholders, thirty-four years later the best Trial riders on the planet are returning to the Marche region.

With an exciting new format introduced for 2026, the competition in Camerino will get under way on Friday 19 June when competitors in the top-flight TrialGP and TrialGP Women classes will contest the Super Test from 17:30 (local time) that will decide starting order for Race One. This will be followed by the Opening Ceremony and an autograph session.

With two days of points-scoring competition taking place on the Saturday and Sunday, the action will start at 08:30 and finish at 16:15 on both days. The sections, plotted in the Figareto area, will be accessible thanks to a dedicated shuttle service.

At the conclusion of the event, the Giuseppe Ronconi Memorial will be awarded as a special prize to the rider who achieves the best overall combined score across all classes over the two days of competition.

Away from the competition, a comprehensive programme of activities has been designed to engage both enthusiasts and the wider public. On the Saturday a Hobby Sport Course will be organised for young fans aged from six to fourteen, running from 17:00 to 20:00. Participants will have the opportunity to try small motorcycles free-of-charge under the supervision of FMI Technical Coaches, with bikes and protective equipment provided by the FMI.

Environmental sustainability initiatives are also planned in collaboration with the FIM and the FMI with an emphasis on social inclusion. On the Friday afternoon, patients from the Santo Stefano Outpatient Centre — that specialises in rehabilitation — and young people from the Millecolori Social-Educational Rehabilitation Centre will visit the paddock and fully experience the atmosphere of the FIM Trial World Championship. Guided tours of historic Camerino will also be available for visitors.

Roberto Lucarelli, Mayor of Camerino, said: “It is a great pleasure for me to once again present an event dedicated to motorsport and sport in general. I would like to thank the FIM, the FMI, CONI and everyone who took part in the press conference, in particular President Copioli for the trust he has placed in us, both on the occasion of the FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy — an event that the entire city still holds close to its heart — and today. International events of this calibre are fundamental for our territory.

Giovanni Copioli, President of the FMI, stated: “I am very pleased with the work being carried out for the Italian GP of the FIM Trial World Championship. As was the case with the FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy, I hope that motorcycling will once again leave a legacy in Camerino that goes beyond the purely sporting dimension. The Italian Motorcycling Federation has always believed in this territory and in its Moto Club and I am confident that our trust is well placed for this event as well. I will be present to support all riders – particularly the Italian competitors – and I expect a great show.”

Fabio Muner, FIM Marketing and Digital Director, added: “I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Moto Club Camerino for their strong involvement and operational support in the organisation of the 2026 FIM TrialGP of Italy. A special acknowledgement must also go to the FMI, that consistently welcomes FIM international events with great enthusiasm, professionalism and a collaborative spirit, ensuring high delivery standards across all functional areas.

“We are delighted to return to a venue that has hosted some of the greatest champions of Trial, including the late Diego Bosis, whose legacy remains an integral part of the sport’s heritage. Moto Club Camerino is a club with consolidated expertise in organising Trial competitions and following the successful opening round of the Italian Championship, I am confident that the FIM TrialGP of Italy will also be delivered as a benchmark event.”
