When the 2015 FIM Trial World Championship rolls into Paços de Ferreira / Santo Tirso tomorrow it will bring to an end a five year absence of Portugal from the series. It was back in April 2010 when the best Trial riders gathered on Portuguese soil to contest what was then the second round of that particular edition of the championship.
Like this weekend coming, five years ago the Trial Grand Prix of Portugal was hosted over two days. Day one saw a young Toni Bou – Repsol Honda reign supreme, as he remained totally unpenalised throughout the two laps of fifteen sections. Bou’s clean ride gave him an eight mark winning margin as Albert Cabestany – Sherco took the runners-up spot whilst Adam Raga – Gas Gas completed the podium on the first day of competition back in 2010.
Twenty-four hours later and Bou was pushed off the rostrum on this occasion as he placed fourth. It was his teammate Takahisa Fujinami – Repsol Honda who was to triumph on day two as he narrowly edged out Cabestany and Raga who again occupied second and third positions once again.
All of the four aforementioned protagonists will be back in action tomorrow as they again look for success in at the Portuguese GP.
