Polish racer Janowski handed hometown wild card for Wroclaw

Poland’s former world No.3 Maciej Janowski returns to the sport’s biggest stage as wild card for the DEWALT FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Wroclaw on Saturday, June 20.

Janowski lines up in the No.16 race jacket for a second straight season on his home track, where he has raced all but two years of his PGE Ekstraliga career for Betard Sparta Wroclaw.

Magic has made 101 Speedway GP appearances, winning eight rounds – including one at Wroclaw’s Olympic Stadium in 2020.

Janowski also sent his home city wild when he clinched Poland the 2023 FIM Speedway World Cup gold medal in a nail-biting finale to one of the all-time great FIM Speedway world team finals.

The first Polish round of 2026 also features six-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, European champion Patryk Dudek, and FIM SGP Challenge top two Dominik Kubera and Kacper Woryna – winner of the opening Speedway GP round in Landshut.

Janowski is joined at the Olympic Stadium by Betard Sparta Wroclaw teammates Nikodem Mikolajczyk and Marcel Kowolik, who line up as track reserves in the No.17 and No.18 race jackets respectively.

A huge FIM Speedway weekend also features the 2026 Beckhoff FIM SGP3 Final – Wroclaw as the sport’s top 250cc under-16 riders race for the FIM Speedway Youth World Championship on Friday, June 19, with the event returning to the Olympic Stadium for the first time since 2022.
