Poland powered to an incredible 18th FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship after winning a last-heat decider with Denmark to clinch 2026 FIM Speedway of Nations – SON2 – Prague gold on Friday.
The Poles went into the teams’ heat-28 showdown on 38 points with the Danes trailing on 35, and skipper Wiktor Przyjemski and Bartosz Banbor delivered sublime starts under immense pressure, winning the race 7-2 to regain the SON2 title with 45 points. Przyjemski starred on 24 points, with Banbor adding 21 as Poland’s 2024 Manchester heroes delivered again in Prague.
Danish stars Villads Nagel and Bastian Pedersen finished on 37 as their country secured silver for the second straight season, with Nagel notching 23 and Pedersen picking up 14.
The battle for bronze was also nail-biting with 2025 SON2 champions Germany, Great Britain and Australia all finishing level on 33 points.
This meant third place was settled on bonus points – earned for every time the teammates finished a race placed first and second or second and third.
Germany got the verdict on five, with skipper Mario Hausl scoring 17, Janek Konzack adding 13 and 2025 FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy winner Hannah Grunwald contributing three on the Prague track where German trailblazer Celina Liebmann made her SGP2 debut in 2022.
