Michael Pirro topped the times on day two of the FIM World Supersport Championship test in Portimao.
The Italian set a best time of 1min 47.168secs on his Ten Kate Honda to beat off the Kawasaki of Joan Lascorz, who had a minor crash late in the day.
Eugene Laverty, runner-up in the 2009 championship, was fastest in the wet morning run but slipped down to third, followed by his team-mate Miguel Praia.
American rookie Jason DiSalvo put in a solid performance aboard his Triumph to end the day 11th.
