Penz13.com Franks Autowelt Racing Team wins the 8 hours of Germany

Oschersleben. The Penz13.com Franks Autowelt Racing Team took the victory in Superstock-class at the 8 hours of Germany of the FIM World Endurance Championship today. The squad of former racer Rico Penzkofer got the win with the riders Jason Pridmore (USA), Pedro Vallcaneras (ESP) and Steve Mercer (GBR) in front of the Team Motors Events April Moto with 57,035 seconds in the lead. The German team was part of a big weekend for BMW Motorrad: The Superbike squad of BMW Motorrad France 99 Team Thevent got second in the EWC-class, the Open-category was won by the “rs speebikes team” on a S 1000 RR also. The Penz-squad earned a 6th overall. Race to catch up Mercer rode the first stint and took it easy in the first laps, but then fired the turbo: he moved the Penz13-BMW into third of the Stockers. A small technical problem at the second pit stop when the first Dunlop rear tire got changed, frustrated the squad to 6th in Superstock. From there on for the final 6 hours not a single problem occurred. At the end the squad took another additional safety pit stop, to refuel some more liters to the S 1000 RR machinery and to give Pridmore the proud of the last stint. In the overall ranking of the FIM World Endurance Superstock Cup the reigning champions took over the lead: Penz13.com Franks Autowelt Racing holds at 68 points in front of Motors Events with 57 before the great finals at the 24 hours of Le Mans.
