Pedrosa starts round 17 on the pace

Dani Pedrosa was the fastest rider in MotoGP™ FP1 at the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix, followed by Aleix Espargaro and Jorge Lorenzo in the top three.

Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) has a good record at the Sepang track and his 2’01.379 lap was enough to give him the lead in FP1. Espargaro (NGM Forward Racing) suffered a small front end crash in the session and trailed his compatriot by just 0.014s in second place.

Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) was just 0.037s down on Pedrosa in third with Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) making it an all Spanish top four in the morning run.

Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP), Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP), Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team), Cal Crutchlow (Ducati Team), Yonny Hernandez (Energy T.I. Pramac Racing) and Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech3) completed the top ten.
