The final round of this year’s FIM Speedway Under 21 World Championship will be taking place in Pardubice, Czech Republic on Saturday 4th October.
Poland’s Piotr Pawlicki currently leads the field and has a seven point advantage over his nearest rivals. Unbeaten so far in the series, the 19 year old from Leszno is in tremendous form and will be the favourite to take the title for the first time.
New European Under 21 Champion Vaclav Milik on his home track will be a strong contender for the meeting but will need his fastest motors on the wide Pardubice track which is nearly 400 metres long. He will also require some luck to overhaul the leader and points dropped in the previous round in Ostrow could prove critical to his chances.
Poland have four riders in the leading ten scorers but Kacper Gomolski appears to have the best chance of a podium place. This will be his last opportunity in this competition so he will have an extra incentive to join the medal winners.
Denmark’s top challenger is Mikkel Michelsen competing in his fourth series, looking to take his first medal and improve on his fourth place in 2012.
The Draw made by FIM is:
1.Vaclav Milik Czech Republic
2.David Bellego France
3.Piotr Pawlicki Poland
4.Mikkel B Jensen Denmark
5.Jonas B Andersen Denmark
6.Szymon Wozniak Poland
7.Jacob Thorsell Sweden
8.Nicklas Porsing Denmark
9.Gino Manzares USA
10.Lasse Bjerre Denmark
11.Eduard Krcmar Czech Republic
12.Kristian Pieszczek Poland

14.Kacper Gomolski Poland
15.Fredrik Engman Sweden
16.Nicolai Jakobsen Denmark
17.(Res)Zdenek Holub Czech Republic
18.(Res)Michal Skurla Czech Republic
Holding a commanding lead, Pawlicki has set a target that will be very difficult for his rivals to achieve. However we can expect some fierce track action when racing starts at 14.15 on Saturday.
Jury President in Pardubice will be David Joiner from USA and Referee, Denmark’s Jesper Steentoft. The meeting is part of the traditional ‘Golden Helmet’ weekend one of the highlights of the speedway year and which will include the 40th Golden Ribbon event and the 66th running of the famous ‘Zlata Prilba’ races on Sunday.
