Passing of Jacques Cornu (1953-2026)

It is with great sadness that the FIM learned of the recent passing of Swiss rider Jacques Cornu.

With multiple Swiss championship titles, crowned by three victories in the FIM Grand Prix World Championship - France and Austria in 1988; Belgium in 1989; all in the 250cc class - Jacques achieved a total of twenty-one podium finishes in one hundred and sixteen Grand Prix races, primarily in the 250cc class - seven second-place finishes and eleven third-place finishes - twice finishing third in the World Championship.

In addition to his Grand Prix successes, he also won the 1982 FIM Endurance World Championship with Jean-Claude Chemarin.

After retiring from competition in 1990, he dedicated himself to training and mentoring motorcyclists. He founded the Cornu Master School, a training facility focused on safety and technical skills for amateur and professional riders. His unwavering commitment and dedication helped promote responsible motorcycling and improve rider training.

On behalf of the FIM, we extend our sincere condolences to his family and his many friends.
