FIM Team Speedway Under 21 World Championship Final
Manchester, Great Britain – 12th July 2019
Some of the top young riders in the world will be riding for their country and chasing the medals when the Final of the FIM Team Speedway Under 21 World Championship comes to Manchester’s National Speedway Stadium on Friday. Four national teams will be in town to race at the venue which boasts the best racing track in Great Britain with top class racing guaranteed.

The current holders, Poland look to be the favourites and will be hard to topple from their place. Their team contains four of the riders who competed in the opening round of the individual under 21 championship last month and includes two world champions at this level, Bartosz Smektala and Maksym Drabik.
Great Britain’s squad includes Dan Bewley, Kyle Bickley and Leon Flint, all of whom ride for the Belle Vue Aces club who are based at this track. Home track knowledge could prove to be decisive when the medals are handed out. Captain Robert Lambert is possibly the most experienced rider in the field and he is enjoying his outings at senior level in the Speedway Grand Prix and European Championship as well as the several leagues he competes in.
Despite an active development programme, Denmark have not enjoyed international success in recent years but in Frederik Jacobsen and Patrick Hansen they have two of the best young riders in Europe and with Tim Sorensen, another under 21 qualifier at reserve they look capable of upsetting any of the more favoured teams.
Australia’s riders have travelled from the other side of the world to broaden their experience in European speedway which is a measure of their determination to succeed. Jaimon Lidsey is the most successful to date but, on a track which is renowned for its fairness and overtaking opportunities, this is a team which will not be disgraced when they take to the track on Friday.
Racing under floodlights will start at 19.00 local time and will be under the watchful eyes of Referee Guiseppe Grandi from Italy. FIM Jury President is Jan Staechmann.
