The FIM MX3 and WMX Motocross World Championships are back East and this time in Senkvice, Slovakia as the warm weather keeps following both championship’s tour, now on their fifth rounds on the 25th June weekend.
With the 2011 season coming to its half, all results are now starting to be seen in a more tactical way by the MX3 and WMX riders as they face the fast hard-pack Senkvice track this weekend.
MX3
Pellicari’s team rider Julien Bill comes to Senkvice with a 19 point lead on the Championship over French UFO-Racing team rider Milko Potisek the only rider to get an overall win this year apart from the all dominant Bill who has five moto wins to his name.
Potisek needs to improve his results quick as he’s now losing ground to the Swiss series leader and the Senkvice round could might just do that for him as he was second on the podium last year.
Martin Michek is also threatening to claim victory in a short future as the R.S.C. Italia Corse Orion RS Petrol team rider just upper his game and got closer to Potisek during the last weekend in Umbria being only 12 points behind the French.
Antii Pyrhonen is currently sitting in fourth in the Championship and he is surely motivated to get inside the top-three as his fitness after-injury improves. The ‘cool’ Finn is only 14 points behind Michek.
In Fifth is Motoman’s team rider Martin Zerava who has been slowly getting on the pace while guarantying good results and is ahead of Italian Marco Maddii by only one point.
2010 MX3 PODIUM:
1. Carlos Campano
2. Milko Potisek
3. Alex Salvini
WMX
Chiara Fontanesi’s assault on the WMX Championship lead has yet to wait as she wasn’t able to capitalise at her home event last weekend in Castiglione de Lago even being the fastest on Saturday and winning one of Sundays’ motos.
Current number one is still KTM Red Bull Teka Factory Team rider Steffi Laier who has won everything this year but the round in Finland where Fontanesi rehearsed her offensive in Italy a week later.
KTM Sarholz rider Larissa Papenmeier lost a bit of ground on the Championship points with Chiara’s wins and is currently third with minus fifteen for the Italian.
The fight for the following positions has also been exciting and is now coming to its peak with a ‘Dutch-Battle’ between ADS-MXN Putoline team rider Mariëlle de Mol and Britt van der Wekken for the fourth position on the championship standings with only two points separating them.
Not too far from these two, with only ten points difference are Francesca Nocera and Regenta Racing rider Sara Pettersson with the exact same 95 points each.
Closing the top-ten are Anne Borchers, Virginie Germond and Shirley Verkade who thanks to their good latest performances are on the pace to climb on the standings.
