MX Awards celebrated in Saint Jean d'Angely


Following the previous year’s tradition, after the qualifying races of the 65th edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, it took place the 2011 Youthstream MX Awards Ceremony in the paddock of Saint Jean d’Angely. With former FIM Motocross of Nations winner Paul Malin and TV presenter Georgia Lindsey presenting the evening, Youthstream President Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, FIM Deputy President Mr. Jorge Viegas, FIM/CMS Director Dr. Wolfgang Srb, FFM President Mr. Jacques Bolle and Jean Pierre Mougin from the French National Olympic and Sportive Committee opened the ceremony and welcomed all the attendees. Antonio Cairoli and Ken Roczen received the MX1 and MX2 FIM World Champion awards and the ten-year-old Jorge Prado from Spain went also on stage as the FIM 65cc Junior World Champion. FIM MX3 World Champion Julien Bill was not present at the ceremony due to an injury, and Mr. Claude Clement received the award on his behalf. FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion Stephanie Laier could not attend the ceremony either, as she was racing in the USA, and Stefan went on stage to receive the award. Representing KTM, Dirk Gruebel and Valentina Ragni received the awards for the MX1 and MX2 Manufacturer World Champion and Claudio De Carli and Stefan Everts represented the orange squad as the MX1 and MX2 winning teams. Taichi Honda received the award for the MX3 Manufacturer World Champion and Roger Harvey represented Honda for the MX3 winning team. Arnaud Tonus received the Jan De Groot Award for being the youngest best rider in the FIM Motocross World Championship, Marcus Pereira de Freitas was awarded as the best Mechanic of the year and Jean Michel Bayle and Eric Geboers went on stage to receive the Lifetime Career Award. Organizers were also handed an award as Best Cooperation (Valkenswaard in MX1/2, Vantaa in MX3), Best Track (Matterley Basin in MX1/2), Best Paddock (Saint Jean d’Angely MX1/2), and the “Stars of Tomorrow” award went to Cingoli as the organizer of the FIM Junior World Championship. Among the special awards was a cheque handed to Wings For Life by Youthstream and Pamela Van Kruijsdijk went also on stage as the winner of the Girls of Motocross contested presented by Fox and embarked by MX-Life.tv.
