1 December in Monaco - Save the date!
The 2013 edition of the FIM Gala Ceremony will take place in Monte-Carlo for the second year in a row. The two-wheel community will gather on Sunday 1 December 2013 to celebrate and applaud the achievements of motorcycling’s finest and fastest riders in this world famous setting. This season’s wide array of FIM World Champions will take to the stage at the prestigious ‘Salle des Etoiles’ room of the Sporting Monte-Carlo alongside legends from the various disciplines for an awards ceremony that will be attended by key industry and media stakeholders and broadcast live to a global audience. The Gala will follow the FIM General Assembly bringing together delegates representing the 108 National Federations from around the world at the Monte-Carlo Bay and Resort on Saturday 30 November.
Monte-Carlo, which is the administrative centre and the most elegant area of the Principality of Monaco, is well known as a favourite destination for the planet’s highest profile celebrities as well as being widely recognised for its casino and unique street racing circuit that plays host to the F1 Championship each year. The sea front location with its imposing harbour further enhances the prestige of this wonderful setting. The impressive Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort is owned by Monte-Carlo SBM which is a public limited company constituted under Monegasque law. Other notable establishments owned and managed by Monte-Carlo SBM include the Monte Carlo Casino, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and the Hotel de Paris in Monte-Carlo.
FIM President Vito Ippolito said: “I am truly delighted to announce that the FIM Gala will once again bring to a close our season in a way that pays tribute to our many motorcycling heroes and heroines both present and past. Those of us who are lucky enough to be involved in motorcycle sport on a day to day basis tend to forget just how courageous the riders are who take to their chosen tracks each weekend in their bids to win and entertain us all at the same time. The FIM Gala has now become the perfect opportunity to reflect on their achievements away from of the racing environment. Although each and every one of our FIM World Champions is used to being centre stage, it is nice to put them in the spotlight without their motorcycles so that we can celebrate their success together in a fitting manner. Those who were present in Monte-Carlo last December will no doubt share my pleasure in returning to this wonderful and famous setting for a second time.”
