Misano Green Circuit: among the thousand "colors" also stands out the environmental and social sustainability for the 6th edition of KiSS Misano

Sixth edition  of KiSS Misano-Keep it Shiny and Sustainable, the environmental and social sustainability  programme promoted by Misano World Circuit (MWC), the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), Dorna and IRTA on the occasion  of the RED BULL Grand Prix MotoGPTM of San Marino and the Riviera di Rimini, scheduled from the 8th to the 10th of September 2023 on the racetrack named after Marco Simoncelli.

COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
Modern and technological, the MWC is also a circuit that has been investing in sustainability for many years now. MWC has in place: a quality system that complies with the requirements  of the UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 standard for quality management and UNI EN ISO 20121:2013 for the sustainable management of events,  the Organization, Management and Control Model pursuant to  Legislative Decree 231/01 and a Code of Ethics. It has also achieved the FIA Environmental Accreditation 3 Star. MWC has been the first circuit in Italy to be equipped with a photovoltaic system, built above the roof of the covered stands(the plant produces 540 thousand Kw per year of electricity with zero CO2 emissions). In recent years, many interventions have been carried out to contain noise and reduce the consumption of electricity (-30%) of the lighting system.

"Starting from KiSS Misano  - says Andrea Albani, Managing Director MWC - we have given substance and method to a clear vision: to work to contain the environmental footprint of our daily activity, so that it is a stimulus for our guests, partners, teams and drivers. Today Misano Green Circuit is the inspiring paradigm of our strategies".

IMPROVING SEPARATE WASTE COLLECTION
Also this year KiSS Misano focuses on the separate collection of waste to reduce the environmental impact of the event. The programme aims to provide information, tools and conditions to enable the separate collection of waste to be carried out in the best possible way and to avoid littering.

WITH THE NATIONAL CONSORTIA CIAL, RICREA AND BIOREPACK TO PROMOTE RECYCLING
This year in the spectators area there will be a thematic station created in co-operation with CIAL-National Aluminum Packaging Consortium and a KiSS Misano station, in order to raise awareness even more on the correct separate collection of packaging in aluminum, steel, compostable bioplastics and on the "new life" in a circular economy perspective.

Specifically, in co-operation with CIAL, a special stand will be set up in the Prato Area (kart track area) with the aim of promoting good environmental practices. All under the aegis of the international environmental awareness project  'Every Can Counts'  (in Italy known as  'Ogni Lattina Vale') created to stimulate the collection and recycling of aluminum beverage cans in contexts 'on the go' and 'away from home'.

During the weekend, in fact, many Green Riders of the  KiSS Misano staff, equipped with iconic backpacks to collect cans, will work hard to encourage the public to respect the simple rules of proper waste disposal. All visitors to the stand will be able to participate in small quizzes and engaging initiatives with fun eco-gadgets made with recycled aluminum. Impossible not to notice it. At the center of the stand will be placed  a Pixel Wall made of aluminum cans that, placed next to each other, will reproduce a motorcycle-themed graphic with a strong visual impact.

WITH THE PAPA GIOVANNI XXIII COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION FOR THE COLLECTION OF FOOD SURPLUS
This year KiSS Misano will still be at the forefront in  the fight against food waste, also in this case inspired by the circular economy. On Saturday and Sunday at the MWC hospitality, the Dorna VIP Village and the teams hospitality, food surplus will be collected. The activity will be carried out by the volunteers of the Papa XXIII Community Association. The food collected will be donated to facilities of evening and night reception for homeless people.

RECEPTION OF SPECTATORS WITH DISABILITIES BY THE PAPA GIOVANNI XXIII COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
On Thursday 7th of September  the “Pit Walk Solidale” will take place, the "solidarity walk" in which boys and girls with disabilities from local not for profit associations will enjoy the visit of the pit lane, admire the race bikes, meet riders and team managers.

Still on the theme of disability, to which MWC has always been very attentive (over the years many interventions have been carried out to make the circuit more and more easily accessible), together with the Papa Giovanni XXIII Community Association, several ad-hoc areas will be created, equipped with gazebo, refreshment area and other facilities, to accommodate people with disabilities and their carers in the most comfortable way.
