The Centennial ISDE in Olbia, Sardinia has seen Enduro 1 World Champion Antoine Meo switch to the Enduro 3 class – on injured countryman Christophe Nambotin’s bike. Ending day one as the fastest E3 class rider, and in third overall, Antoine’s performance in part ensured France topped the World Trophy team competition.
“The 300 takes a little time to get used to, especially when you’ve raced a 125cc two-stroke and 250cc four-stroke all season,” commented Meo before placing his bike in the parc ferme. “It’s the bike of Christophe Nambotin, who wasn’t able to race because of injury, but things are going well. I’m not taking any risks, just getting used to the bike and the terrain.
“I’m happy with my result,” continued Antoine. “Some special tests didn't go so well, but that was because I was trying to find the correct way of racing the 300. But I also had some good special tests. The day went well for the French Trophy team, we’re leading so that’s good.
“I’m looking forward to day two. On day one the Enduro 3 class follows the Enduro 2 riders, so I caught quite a lot of competitors. On day two I will be among the faster riders, so that should be good for me…”
