Seventeen-year-old Spanish rider Arnau Farre – Gas Gas produced perhaps the stand-out ride on the opening day on the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship when he completed all three laps of twelve sections in the Trial2 class without losing a single mark. Arnau’s victory at his home Grand Prix in Cal Rosal was not his first for the talented teenager, with him having recorded his maiden win in France at the closing round of the 2014 series before then winning again at the penultimate event in Portugal last year.
2014 was Farre’s debut season in the then titled FIM Trial World Cup category (now Trial2) with his first event being at Comblain au Pont, Belgium at the age of sixteen years and just seven days. Arnau finished in eleventh position on that particular day, but despite showing moments of promise throughout his initial campaign he never actually featured on the podium until he won at the French GP later the same season. 2015 saw the Spanish youngster make a marked improvement as he visited the rostrum on no less than eight occasions, including his win in Portugal and a second place in Great Britain, on route to sixth overall in the final general standings.
Today Arnau will look to repeat his performance of yesterday and make it two wins from two starts to keep his 100% record before the series moves onto Japan later this month.
