Marc Ristori – From one second to the next

On Wednesday 7 December, the film Marc Ristori – “From one second to the next” will be shown in cinemas in French-speaking Switzerland. This film is about a professional Motocross rider who became paraplegic during a Supercross event, as have others before him. Multiple Swiss Motocross Champion, Marc Ristori had a terrible crash during the Geneva Supercross on 30 November 2007. He was then 25 years old. The accident was serious and the diagnostic would drastically change his life. He became paraplegic. For some, everything would be destroyed in a few seconds with such news; projects, friends, family… However, Marc is a fighter. He got up, as champions do, and he is ready for another fight: to build a new life and giving himself new challenges to face. He has a maturity and a force of character that is beyond the ordinary. “To be a motorcycle rider was tougher than to be handicapped” he used to say. A kind of crazy dream carries him forward: to walk again. His story is extreme, but means something to all of us. Marc Ristori lost his autonomy, his mobility, his image of himself and his relation to his body but he also lost his job, his dreams, his girl-friend, his flat, his car. However, he has not lost his passion: motorcycling remains the love of his life, his engine of yesterday and today. The film is also in praise of passion.
