A perfect day welcomed the third round of the S1GP World Championship in St. Wendel with thrilling races and a big crowd who enjoyed the show. Marc Reiner Schmidt (Team 11) starred in both races, joined by second and third qualified Lukas Hollbacher (Schruf Racing) and Elia Sammartin (BRT Honda RedMoto). In the Rookies Eddy Frech (KTM) took the victory.
S1GP Fast Race
Once again at the start of the Fast Race, Marc Reiner Schmidt (Team 11) got a better result than Steve Bonnal (TSV Racing Factory Team TM Corse) who could not do anything in the first corner. The French tried to defend himself from Lukas Hollbacher (Schruf Racing) but slipped before the off-road section and lost several positions. Elia Sammartin (BRT Honda RedMoto) took third place and qualified in front of Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr). In a couple of laps, the Spanish rider overtook the Italian rival and when it seemed there was nothing left Cortes suffered a spectacular fall, without consequences, and Sammartin moved up to third place. Marc Reiner Schmidt won the race and ruled from beginning to end followed by second qualified Lukas Hollbacher, who could never get close to the race winner. After working his way up, pole man Steve Bonnal had to feel happy with eight place and had to start from the third row in the Super Final. Home rider Eddy Frech (KTM) took the victory in the Rookies.

Marc Reiner Schmidt pulled away from the pole position and took the lead in the first corner but the race was red flagged after a crash that involved two riders. As the race started again the German rider made no mistakes and moved to the front, chased by Lukas Hollbacher. It seemed Hollbacher could keep the German’s race pace revealing a tough battle, but Lukas slipped and lost the chance to attack Schmidt. Behind the two top riders, Elia Sammartin entered the joker lane in the initial laps and this paid off. The Italian rider had issues with the bike set up and could not push as much as he wanted. Steve Bonnal started from the third row and was the author of an amazing recovery which took him to third place behind Hollbacher and Schmidt.
On the podium, together with the undisputed star Marc Reiner Schmidt, there were Lukas Hollbacher and Elia Sammartin, third. In the Rookies Cup Eddy Frech took the second victory of the day. Despite the bad fall suffered in race1, the German rider fully recovered and was very fast in the off-road.
