After Christmas time, the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship is back on Saturday, January 18th in the Football and Samba country and more precisely in Belo Horizonte in the Mineirinho Arena for the 3rd stage of the season… It will be also the first “oversea” race for the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship that never went out of Europa before. For the very first time in its history, Brazil will welcome a SuperEnduro stage. It’s the Quanta Sports agency, well-known in the Motorbike World for their organization of riding traineeship with David KNIGHT or Graham JARVIS, which is in charge to organize this event in collaboration with the FIM, ABC Communication and the CBM (Confederacao Brasileira de Motociclismo). Sebastiao LAGO, chairman of Quanta Sports, has decided to use the success of the 2013 X-Games (Foz do Iguacu) to organize this SEWC stage. “The craze in Belo Horizonte is very important for this race! The spectators and motorbike fans are coming from everywhere in the country in order to watch KNIGHT, BLAZUSIAK and the other stars. It’s a big chance for us to promote the Motorsports in Brazil and I think that every European rider will be surprised by the warm welcome and the fervor that await them. Besides the races, we have organized other activities with for example a concert!” And the Mineirinho Arena of Belo Horizonte has been chosen to welcome this Grand Prix. This arena is the biggest one in Brazil and can host 25 000 persons! It is situated next to the Mineirao stadium that will host some games and a semi-final of the next 2014 Football World Cup. Mineirinho has welc omed numerous events like UFC fights or the Brazil Cup of Volleyball and also many concerts (Iron Maiden, Green Day, and Rihanna). In other words, it’s a perfect arena to host the 3rd stage of the 2013/2014 SEWC! Sebastiao LAGO with Taddy BLAZUSIAK Belo Horizonte, third city of the country behind Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, is situated in the Minas Gerais states which it’s the capital. This city, of approximately 2 400 000 inhabitants, has a tropical climate and is located 450 kilometers North from Rio de Janeiro… Belo Horizonte is a new and modern town of Minas Gerais. It’s the richer city of the country thanks to the great mining tradition and thanks to the gold-diggers that made its prosperity during the 18th century. Belo Horizonte is also famous for its two Football club whose the “Cruzeiro” where have played legends like Tostao, Jairzinho, Ronaldo… while its great rival the “Atletico Mineiro strong” has actually in its roster the star Ronaldinho! Belo Horizonte, “BH” as Brazilian used to call it is also the hometown of Dilma ROUSSEF, the actual Brazilian President… T 2013 didn’t end up as expected for Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL – KTM). Defeated at home in Lodz (Poland) in front of his public by David KNIGHT (GB – Sherco), the KTM rider confessed he was tired of a long season. After four weeks free, the four times World Champion must be 100% fit and will look of course to dig his gap (14 points) over KNIGHT… But strong from a nice victory that gave him more confidence, KNIGHTER should be more incisive and will have only one goal: to get another win in order to come back on Taddy… This duel will once again give a lot of thrill to the boiling Brazilian spectators. Behind this magic duo, start of season sensation Dani GIBERT (E – Gas Gas) will look to come to play spoilsport. More and more present in the head of the race (5/1/8 in Poland), the Spanish will try to fight with BLAZUSIAK and KNIGHT… Always consistent and good placed the HVA rider Alfredo GOMEZ (E) is still looking for his first podium of the season and real wants to reach it this Saturday evening! O his side, Jonny WALKER (GB – KTM), diminished in the Atlas Arena due to an injury during the qualification heat, will have to step up if he doesn’t want to see the Top 3 escape to him. After an excellent and surprising Grand Prix of Poland, Mathias BELLINO (F – HVA) will have to confirm his nice results while Joakim LJUNGGREN (S – HVA) has still to give a lot more in order to affirm himself as a top gun of the class. Exciting actors in Liverpool and Lodz, it seems that it’s only missing a podium from Kyle REDMOND (USA – KTM) and Kevin ROOKSTOOL (USA – KTM) to launch definitely their season… Benoit FORTUNATO (F – Yam) and Ricky DIETRICH (USA – KTM) are also making the trip to South America and are still looking to continue their learning of the discipline after scoring 6 encouraging point in Poland for the French. Will Alfredo GOMEZ (E - HVA) claim his first podium of the season? Giacomo REDONDI will dance Samba In the Junior class, we are wondering who will stop Giacomo REDONDI (I – Beta). Indeed, the new Beta rider will be the only European to make the trip to the samba and football country as Jamie MCCANNEY (GB – HVA), Andreas LINUSSON (S – KTM), Magnus THOR (S – KTM) and Pawel SZYMKOWSKI (PL – KTM) has decided to overlook the South American tour… But the class will still be very interesting and we’ll have the opportunity to discover the Brazilian young guns leaded by Ripi GALLILEU (Gas Gas), Breno FELNER (TM) and Ronald SANTI (HM Honda)… For its great first out of Europa, we will attend to a thrilling third stage that can be the turning point of this Championship where everything can change. See you on Saturday, January 18th in Mineirinho (Belo Horizonte) where the SEWC stars promise us a show under high voltage, embellished by the fervor and warmth of the Brazilian public just few weeks before the famous Carnival!
