Laier seals Title with overall win in Lierop

After winning her maiden Title yesterday, Laier confirmed she is the strongest rider in the FIM Women’s World Championship as she went on to take her third consecutive overall win at this final round of the series.

Heat one winner Fontanesi took second on the podium ahead of Papenmeier, who secured the runner up spot in the Championship. Finishing fourth overall, Kane moved up to third in the Championship.

After losing to Fontanesi yesterday, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Laier took her revenge today by winning the final heat and wrapping up the overall. The newly crowned World Champion of Germany led from lap one and kept the lead despite a crash.

Fontanesi, who held the lead for just two laps after Laier crashed, settled for second and mounted on her maiden podium. The 15 year old Italian of the Yamaha 3C Racing Team was ninth at the end of her first World Championship campaign.

Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2’s Papenmeier recovered well after a troubled start as she took fourth in today’s final moto. Papenmeier was third on the podium and managed to secure the runner up spot in the Championship.

It was a great final round for MVR-D Suzuki’s Kane who took third in today’s final heat. Kane missed the podium by just two points but moved up to third in the Championship, exploiting also Franke’s absence due to injury.
