The French ski resort of La Mongie situated just over two hundred kilometres south west of the city of Toulouse will host tomorrow’s Trial GP. This is the penultimate stop of the 2014 FIM Trial World Championship. With the paddock located at sixteen hundred metres and the top sections on the mountainous course being at two thousand metres, this is the highest Grand Prix of the year. A popular destination for alpine pursuits during the winter season, the normally snow covered valleys are currently awash with green pastures, wild donkeys and rock filled crevasses which will host tomorrow’s competition. From the centre of the village the opening two hazards can be seen high in the distance just below a towering peak that still has a considerable amount of snow in its shadow. The riders will then traverse the steep mountainside to take in two more pairs of sections before arriving at the main and final group of six sections just below the road that weaves its way to the summit. This is the second World class two wheel event to visit the region this week, with the colourful road graffiti still present revealing that Le Tour de France had ascended the famous Col du Tourmalet only on two days ago.
