KTM at the double

he Grand Prix of Germany started today with the qualifying races of MX1 and MX2 at the crowded track of Teutschenthal. Antonio Cairoli and Ken Roczen were once more awarded with the Lovemytime pole position awards, as both riders dominated the qualifying races. MX1
Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli dominated the MX1 qualifying race from beginning to end, taking first the holeshot and keeping then the pressure from Bobryshev, who rode really close to him during several laps. With this victory, Cairoli adds his third Lovemytime pole position award to his records in this 2011 season. Evgeny Bobryshev from Honda World Motocross did a very good start and kept the second position until the end. The Russian did some mistakes during today’s qualifying race, but he is very confident for tomorrow. Monster Energy Yamaha’s Philippaerts rode safe during the first half of the race, but he decided to push harder in the second half and obtained a final third position. Philippaerts admitted that he really likes the track and he expects to obtain a good result tomorrow. His teammate Steven Frossard was riding third and he then make a mistake and was down to fourth. He is now third in the point standings, just twelve points behind Desalle, so tomorrow it’s a good opportunity for the French to fight for the runner up position of the championship. Honda World Motocross’ Gonçalves did a very good race and he crossed the finish line in the fifth position. The Portuguese has struggled in the last Grand Prix, but he is now ready to fight for the top positions in the MX1 class. Christophe Pourcel made his first appearance in the FIM Motocross World Championship today in Germany after he left to the USA when he won the FIM MX2 World Championship back in 2007. Pourcel expressed his satisfaction for being back in the series, although being just sixth in the MX1 qualifying race. Home rider Nagl struggled a lot with the track and his KTM machine and he could only finish eighth, followed by De Dycker. Desalle finished 12th. MX1 Qualifying Race top ten: 1. Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Roczen obtained his eighth Lovemytime pole position award of the season in front of his home fans after wining the MX2 qualifying race. Roczen is looking forward to racing tomorrow in Teutschenthal and hand the overall victory to all his German fans. His teammate Herlings did a very good start and he could open a wide gap with Roczen, as the German was having some problems with his clutch. Herlings was down to the second place in lap seven, but thanks to today’s performance he knows that he can ride at the front if he takes a good start and then try to fight for the overall victory. CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Searle did a very consistent race and managed to finish third ahead of Paulin. Monster Energy Yamaha’s Paulin took a very good start, but he could not keep the third position as he made a mistake and was down to fourth. Bike-it Cosworth Wild Wolf Yamaha’s Tonus started ninth, but he managed to overtake up to four riders and crossed the finish line in the fifth position. Tonus has not been lucky in the previous GP, so he is looking forward to doing a good performance at tomorrow’s races. Van Horebeek could not take part in the MX2 qualifying race as he had a big crash during the previous session and he was sent to the hospital. The Belgian rider has nothing broken, but he has a big pain on his ribs and he will stay the night over in the hospital to make sure that there are no further injuries.
